Love Shared in a Slum School

(When Ron Cunningham and his wife are home from traveling to spend time with their daughters and grandchildren, they attend First United Methodist Church in Sedalia, MO.)

"Suppose a brother or sister is weithout clothes and daily food. "  James 2 vs 15

My first mission trip was to India early 2006.   One day the team visited a slum school in a city.   A slum school is just what it sounds like .  This school had over 150 students most dresseed in dirty rags.   When we returned to Missouri and told of these kids people wanted to help in some way.   As money was donated here our friend Yohan
was busy on the other side of the world getting the kids' sizes and clothing prices.

I returned to India that fall to work with Habitat For Humanity and met with our Mission Partner and Yohan.  As we totaled up the donated monies and the total clothing costs it was just the right amount.  On December 5th, 2006 the school clothes were passed out at the school.   There were television crews and newspapers there also.   For this day the kids were the stars.  Fifteen years later we don’t know how everything has turned out for these kids but we know that they know that people a long ways off loved them.

Years past there was a slogan “What Would Jesus Do”.   There are those that aren’t big fans of the book of James    (Martin Luther).   I beleive if you lay the book of James over the Gospels of Christ you will have a new slogan: "What Would Jesus Want Me to
Do?"
