A Tale of Two Sisters (Part 1)

A Tale of Two  Cities Sisters

To understand my story, you must also hear and understand her story.  Two sisters….serving together on a church staff….listening, praying, serving, worshipping, begging God to use them for His glory, asking for direction and guidance, and waiting.

For me, I was serving in the areas of two passions --missions and children’s ministry.  God had expanded (and was continuing to expand) my heart for people of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, etc.  He had shown me a glimpse of His people, and I had developed a love for the nations.  He had instilled in me an urgency to share and a burden to be His hands and feet.  God had delighted me with the opportunity to love boys and girls and teach them about the wonderful plans He had for them both now and in the future.  He reminded me that we all needed to be practicing our witness and worship.

For her, she also was serving in an area of passion: worship.  God was using her to lead all ages in our church to set aside everything else and focus on our holy God and to worship Him.  He used her to challenge an adult choir week after week to live for Him and to live with Him.  She invested in lives of children and youth and showed them how to lead worship from the heart with excellence.  She encouraged all ages to use the gifts God had given them for His glory and to point people to Christ.  Her gift of discernment was exhibited in counseling situations, in personal conversations, in staff meetings.   He reminded her that He was trustworthy and faithful.

God was teaching both of us to lean on Him through joys and struggles.  And He was preparing both of us for a change; for a new chapter; for a jump of faith.

Spirit, lead me where my trust is without borders” became not only lyrics of a song but they became words of a prayer for me.  Why is trust so difficult?  God has proven faithful over and over, and yet I hesitated.  I wanted the details.  What did He want me to do?  Where?  When?  How?  Just show me the plan, and I’ll follow it….

And then, I received a text from my sister in New Zealand.   “You’ll never guess what I just did…”

Stay tuned for part 2!
